Media Artist Randy Yang, born in Taiwan. His early works focused on visually dominant kinetic installations, but more recently, he has shifted towards sound installations. In a society where technological upgrades force instantaneous physical responses, his work aims to resist this phenomenon. His recent pieces draw from various cases of communication failure, revisiting and reclaiming obsolete media to challenge the efficiency and optimal pathways pursued by modern technology. Through DIY sound installations, modulation, extension, energy transfer structures, and audience interaction, he practices a narrative of "errors" within the framework of information transmission.

Works such as "Randy 6S," "Randy 11," and "Randy 14" use various transducing components and sensing modules to collect water vapor, radio signals, vibrations, and sounds from the space. These objects, imbued with a semblance of soul, influence both the environment and the visitors. In "Randy 7" and "Randy 7.5," two unrelated and scattered viewers are invited to interact, with the installation objects serving as a third party in this relationship. This creates dynamic communication scenarios through continuous energy transfer and transformation. "Randy 16" starts from the concept of "failed" message transmission and the structure of team-building games, incorporating detours, interruptions, and noise into the communication paths, treating the recorded tracks of the installation as the emotional expression of the objects.

In addition to participating in various group and solo exhibitions, Randy worked as an assistant in the studio of artist Wu Tien-chang from 2019 to 2021. From 2017 to 2018, he served as an alternative military service member at the Siao-Long Cultural Park in Tainan, interacting with artists from various regions. In 2018, he worked as an assistant to foreign curators at the Tainan International Foto Festival. In 2023, he received the "13th New York Travel Grant" from the School of Fine Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts, allowing him to conduct creative research in New York.
